Follow me along on my journey of learning to create Waldorf-style dolls. This is a place to share my progress, mistakes, and all the joy of making.
After years of building digital products and writing code, I’ve felt the need to make something tangible. Waldorf-style dolls are a complete shift for me, moving away from digital work and into handmade craft.
I started this journey simply wanting to make something nice for my daughter that I could put my heart into, but on the way I realized it’s my way of slowing down. It helps me shift my focus, step out of the wheel for a moment, and just turn off my brain and enjoy making.
For the stuffing, I use organic wool from Southern Germany
For the skin, I use special doll jerseys from De Witte Engel and Laib Yala. They are OEKO-TEX certified and compliant with European toy safety standards (EN 71).
I use mohair boucle (DWE / Dolly Mo / Wollknoll) for my curly hair dolls and DROPS Kid-Silk mohair yarn for straight hair
All fabrics for the clothing are OEKO-TEX 100 or GOTS certified
Some time ago, while visiting my sister-in-law, my daughter spent the afternoon playing with some of her dolls. I was surprised to find out they were handmade by my sister-in-law herself—they looked absolutely awesome! Later that evening, my daughter told me how much she loved them and how much she would like to have one of her own.
